TRONbook
Rediscover your city. Reconnect with the world.
In today’s fast-paced, digital world, urban loneliness is becoming a silent epidemic. As we get more connected online, we're growing more disconnected from real-life experiences and the people around us. That’s why we’re introducing TRONbook – a revolutionary platform designed not to deliver content, but to deliver experiences.
We believe in getting people out of their bubbles, sparking connections, and encouraging exploration beyond the screen. Whether it’s a spontaneous adventure in your city, a creative workshop, or a mindful retreat, our platform curates personalized experiences that inspire, connect, and bring people together. It’s time to reclaim real life, one experience at a time.

Project Overview
TRONbook would be a multi-platform social media product that can be accessed on mobile apps and on the web. The product would have two additional components compared to major social media platforms: engine to generate activities, personality analyzing and matching engine. I am the sole designer of the project and responsible for the user experience and interface of the product. The other members of the team are responsible for the backend database and front-end development of the product. Due to the time constraints, the project scope is limited to onboarding user flow.
Problem
Despite connecting us online, social media can make people feel more isolated. Virtual interactions often replace meaningful, in-person connections, deepening feelings of loneliness. The way social media focuses on likes and views also foster superficial engagement where users often focus on shallow, performative interactions rather than meaningful, in-depth conversations or relationships.
Solution
We aim to reimagine social media and create a product that is experience-centric and inspirational. This new product strives to enable users to reimagine life, have fun, and connect with others by sharing joy and inspiration. The AI system will help users identify activities that keep them inspired based on their personalities.
Project Goals
TRONbook aims to recreate a virtual meeting place that brings users together, encouraging them to explore the environment around them. This will be achieved by offering users inspirational activities, genuine connections, and personalized experiences.
What This Project Aims To Achieve

Instill Inspiration
Create Connection
Personalized Experience
We acknowledge that different users have different ways of finding inspiration, and we have segmented our activities by category to ensure our suggestions better align with users' interests and traits.
We intend to create a community that connects users with similar interests and inspiration styles, encouraging interaction through occasional group-based activities and special event chatrooms.
We understand that different users are inspired in various ways based on their interests and personalities. Therefore, we curated a personality test to understand how users are inspired, allowing us to make better suggestions.
Research
To lay the foundation of my understanding of social app trends, I have studied the functionalities of BeReal and Clubhouse, two popular new social apps. Both apps aim to foster authenticity by either capturing real-life moments without filters or offering voice-based conversations in panels and chatrooms. These two apps pave the way for spontaneous, experience-based interaction in a passive manner. TRONbook would fill the gap in current social apps by offering an active, experience-based platform, allowing users to engage with the world in a way that inspires them the most.
Before we began designing anything, we conducted research on our target audience across a few aspects:
-
Ways to instill inspiration through activities
-
How receptive our target audiences are to specific personality tests
-
Whether our target audiences trust AI engines to suggest activities

In determining my audience, I selected and interviewed young adults between the age of 18 to 35. This is the age group that uses grows up with the presence of social media and have the use of social media ingrained in their lifestyle. I have selected a group of target audience primarily lived in Pacific Northwest Region where residents of the region tend to have higher social media usage compared to some other regions in the United States, due to the long wet winter and tech savvy environment of the region. I started my research with interviewees that are working in the tech sector and move on to their friends that are not working in tech.
Interview Findings

Photos are still the sole medium my interviewees share on social apps
MBTI 16 personalities test is the test mentioned the most by my interviewees, and they trust the result from the test
My interviewees have mentioned they wish content were pushed based on personality or interest instead of the previous content they have looked at
The research also have informed me the kind of activities would make users feel inspired. From the findings I have come up with a list of activity categories and they include:
-
Arts and creative activities
-
Sports and fitness class
-
City exploration and community adventures
-
Mindfulness activities and meditation
-
Networking activities and meet new people
-
Hobby exploration and new experience workshops
-
Learning new skills or language
Ideation
My teammates and I came up with the idea of making our platform inspirational to users by catering to the users’ personality traits, and what kind of activities inspire them. Instead of having users chasing likes and responses from other users, we want our users to live a life and do things that they like and share that inspiration with users and help them to make genuine connections with like minded people or even start a community who shares the similar inspirations.
Based on our research findings, we have an idea of incorporating personality test into the platform to provide personalized content for users and MTBI were the most popular choice. All the findings lead us to come up with the 4 key component to be included to serve the project goal
-
A short MBTI personality test for personalized experience
-
AI engine that recommends the activities that instill inspiration based on the user's traits
-
AI engine that pushes content and discussion based on user's traits to creating better connection and sense of community
-
Enable photo and video sharing on activities done to instill inspiration to other users on the platform.
MBTI Personality Test
The MBTI personality test reveals a user's personality traits and attributes based on how they gain social energy, their data-gathering style, decision-making approach, and lifestyle orientation. From the test results, we can approximate the user's interests, communication style, and preferred content type.

Recommend Activities
One of the key functions of TRONbook is to recommend activities to keep users inspired. Our AI engine generates a series of activities each month based on inspiration genres. These activities are designed to inspire our users to pick up new skills, explore new hobbies, connect with their neighborhood, and meeting other participants.

Personalize Content
The MBTI personality test result will help us to personalize the content being send to each user. Our AI engine will push content to user based on their personality and what would be likely to keep them inspired. One of the product goal is to help users connect with their community and our personalize content would help users to connect to people with similar interest and build a sense of community based on shared experience and aspiration.
Prototype
The iteration process started with wireframes, taking into consideration early user stories and flows. Earlier versions were modified after user testing was done. After a few iteration, I have come up with an onboarding screen flow prototype.
Retrospective
One of the challenges in designing the product was the prioritization of key functions. We chose to prioritize the implementation of personalized content over a gamification and reward system due to time and scope constraints. This decision aimed to prioritize user satisfaction, foster meaningful interactions, and ensure sustained engagement in our MVP.
